With garden weddings becoming ever more popular, we’re compiling a comprehensive in-depth list of venues in Malaysia showing where you can plan one. These venues listed are event spaces outside of the hotel setting. For hotels that offer garden and/or outdoor weddings in Malaysia, see 12 Hotels with Outdoor Spaces For A Wedding Ceremony.

Behind the facade of a gorgeous setting, it will do you well to remember that there may be additional complications in selecting a non-hotel space for your wedding. Do pay attention to details such as staffing, parking, lodging for you and your guests and the amenities on offer. Less amenities means more vendors involved and unless you’re planning to have a simple soiree, it may be best to hire a wedding planner for venues like these. From Tudor cottages to traditional Malay houses, and even to green spaces in the middle of the city, we found them all. And only at TWN, we’ve got the real weddings to project fiction to reality.

1. Puncak Dani, Genting Sempah

The road leading to Puncak Dani is inconspicuous. There are 2 bungalows in the compound that are part of the Puncak Dani estate, which are Puncak Dani and Dani Lodge. To book this location for a wedding event, you will have to book out both bungalows for a 3D2N period. Booking of both properties will set you back RM11,100++. Both bungalows can sleep 15 pax each, additional sleeping arrangements are available to accommodate another 10 persons, but beyond that, the Awana Resort next door is a comfortable solution. As this is purely a venue hire, all other vendors will have to be outsourced. Tents can be erected on the compound. Do note that there will be a surcharge for water, electricity, tent usage, and visitors (according to the size of your party). Parking on the grounds are limited, therefore a site recce is advised. Traffic controllers will be necessary during your event. It is important to remind your vendors that they will need to make sure there is enough staffing for the cleanup after as well.

2. Rowan & Parsley, Johor Bahru

Rowan & Parsley is a restaurant in JB popular for weddings. Vines creep up trellises concealing its exterior. Walking up to the property, the structure reveals itself in intervals, akin to a secret garden. This is the most convenient locale. There are no additional charges for the venue provided you order from their catering services. Food may be served buffet style at  RM128/pax and for individual meals, it starts at RM148/pax. Private areas can seat 20-30 pax. However, a minimum required booking for 60 guests is required on weekdays and 85 guests on weekends to close the restaurant for a private event. Inside the restaurant seats 96 guests. The outside can accommodate an additional 50 guests. Ceremonies to be held outdoors can be arranged. The restaurant also offers a reasonable decoration package which includes welcome signage, photo booth, an arch, hanging installations (lamp decor), table setting, stationary for the table and placement cards for a fee to start at RM5,500. Honestly, all that’s left to be taken care of is the bride’s and groom’s attire and a photographer for a perfect intimate wedding reception. It’s no wonder this place is fast gaining popularity amongst couples.
