Zeey and Chun Hui, a couple with a deep appreciation for Kyoto’s traditional allure, chose this iconic Japanese city as the backdrop for their pre-wedding photoshoot. Their photographer, Jaden Lim perfectly captured the rustic and serene backdrops of Kyoto as they journey through historic streets and neighbouring landscapes.
Zeey is dressed in a modest white gown with delicate lace details, perfectly complementing the traditional Japanese settings. Her attire is accentuated by a simple bouquet of vibrant wildflowers, an simple yet stand out accessories. Chun Hui, on the other hand, dons a stylish brown suit, exuding a blend of modern sophistication and traditional elegance. His outfit harmonises beautifully with the rustic and serene backdrops of Kyoto.
The photoshoot took Zeey and Chun Hui through the picturesque streets of Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, where they posed against the charming wooden facades of traditional Japanese buildings. The Yasaka Shrine and ordinaryJapanese infrastructure provided iconic backdrops, enriching the visual narrative.
Originally, the couple planned to capture their pre-wedding moments amidst the cherry blossoms at Sewaritei. However, the overwhelming presence of tourists prompted them to seek a more secluded location. This led them to a tranquil wildflower field, offering a serene and intimate setting for their photoshoot. The resulting images are a testament to their flexibility and determination to capture the perfect moments, no matter the circumstances.
With an approach centered on intimacy, warmth, and adventure, Jaden Lim skilfully encapsulated these themes throughout the photoshoot. By focusing on the essence of his subject with the aim to evoke a sense of nostalgia and belonging, he has created images that resonates universally, yet remains personal. “The lesson learned is that plans may fail. While it’s good to have a plan, being adaptable and willing to explore new locations or ideas can lead to unexpected and beautiful outcomes.” shared Jaden when asked about his takeaway from this shoot.
