Set against the lush tropical backdrop of Sentosa, Janda Baik, this wedding was a masterclass in cultural storytelling and intentional design. Celebrating the union of two families — hers with Javanese roots and his from a Malay-Baba lineage — the event unfolded as a modern homage to royal grandeur of a century past, deeply personal and artfully curated.

In a setting that echoed old-world elegance, the couple chose to express their shared narrative through elements deeply rooted in heritage. The bride wore a bespoke kebaya by Toton, crafted from repurposed lace, fusing sustainability with artisanal craft. Her look was completed with a flower crown of tropical blooms and a striking bouquet made from jantung pisang and petai — an unexpected yet symbolic arrangement drawn from the earth. The groom wore a Kraton beskap suit, layered over a custom baju melayu by Omar Ali, discreetly embroidered with his vows — a poetic and notably powerful detail.

The aesthetic of the wedding drew unmistakable inspiration from both kampung life and royal heritage. Nature was both the canvas and the decor: lily-filled ponds, dense tropical flora, and wooden walkways created a setting that evoked the romance of a bygone era.

Guests were treated to a kampung-style feast, served beneath dappled sunlight. Tables were draped in earth-toned linens and adorned with tropical fruits and fresh produce from D&S Farmers Market. These fruits and vegetables doubled as both centrepieces and functional favours, with guests invited to fill their own bags to take home — a charming, sustainable gesture.

In lieu of a traditional guestbook, attendees signed an old architecture magazine, now repurposed into a coffee table keepsake for the couple — a clever, design-forward memento filled with heartfelt wishes. One of the most playful and talked-about moments was the golf piñata— a whimsical nod to the groom’s love for the game. Packed with candy, it burst into a cloud of confetti, sending children into a frenzy of laughter and delight.

Guests, dressed in kebayas and light linen, sipped on nostalgic long chan sodas and indulged in classic local sweets, adding to the relaxed, festive mood. The seamless blend of old-world charm, familial intimacy, and contemporary sensibility made every moment feel both elegant and joyously grounded.
