Ishnee and Daniel first met when they were both working in Singapore. Soon after, they moved to the UK. Daniel’s proposal took place during a visit to the Steall Waterfall, a dramatic and romantic location. In a touching and playful moment, as Daniel knelt down to propose, Ishnee joined him on her knees too—a shared gesture that reflected the equality and fun that defines their bond.
When it came to choosing the venue for their UK wedding celebration, the couple wanted something intimate and private, away from the usual hotel venues and public spaces. They discovered the perfect setting at Dalston Hall, a character-rich 1600s castle surrounded by lush greenery. The moment they laid eyes on the venue’s gazebo, nestled beneath towering trees, they knew it was meant to be. The hall’s secluded feel, including the enchanting trees Daniel adored, created the ideal backdrop for their dream wedding.
Ishnee looked radiant in a stunning long-sleeved, beaded gown that shimmered as she moved, perfectly capturing the magic of the day. Her hair, styled in loose waves with a chic, silver-grey hue, beautifully complemented the intricate detailing of her gown. In contrast, Daniel opted for a classic black suit, which echoed the all-black theme, adding a subtle but stylish contrast to the bride’s dazzling ensemble.
The bridal party made a striking impression. Bridesmaids wore sleek satin gowns in muted earth tones, which harmonised with the natural surroundings of the castle. Their bouquets, created by Ishnee herself, featured pampas grass—a modern and organic touch that enhanced the wedding’s rustic vibe.
Before the ceremony, the bridal party had the luxury of getting ready together whilst sharing some lighthearted moments. Their wedding ceremony was held by the gazebo, surrounded by nature and the grandeur of the castle grounds. The couple exchanged their vows—something they hadn’t been able to do during their registry office marriage in Singapore—making this moment all the more poignant.
Following the ceremony, guests were treated to a canapé reception featuring an oyster cart, a unique highlight that left a lasting impression. As the day progressed, speeches were shared, and the traditional Chinese “Yum Seng” toast bridged cultures, ensuring everyone—from Daniel’s British family to Ishnee’s Chinese relatives—felt included in the celebration.
The evening transitioned into a lively party, beginning with a band that set the tone for the festivities. One of the most memorable moments of the night was Ishnee’s surprise for Daniel—a DJ set that she had prepared to give him the rave-style atmosphere he had dreamed of. Her father enthusiastically joined in, and the night culminated in dancing and laughter, bringing their loved ones together in an unforgettable way.
