When it came time for Susan and Peter to plan their wedding, they knew they wanted a beachfront celebration — but without asking guests to travel too far. The Shangri-La Rasa Sayang in Penang, the bride’s hometown, became the perfect option: tropical, accessible, and deeply personal.

Set against the backdrop of the Andaman Sea, the ceremony space was styled with a delicate pastel palette — soft blush, cream, and hints of lilac. A floral arch rich with baby’s breath, orchids, and roses framed the couple as they exchanged vows. White Chiavari chairs lined the aisle, bordered with abundant florals, leading to a truly picturesque altar.

For the ceremony, the bride looked ethereal in a voluminous strapless white gown featuring layers of cloud-like tulle, paired with a classic long veil and a delicate floral bouquet — understated, yet romantic. The groom stood confidently beside her in a timeless black tuxedo, the ideal contrast that brought balance and elegance to their seaside vow exchange.

The reception took place under a grand marquee, with Viking-style long tables that broke away from conventional round-table arrangements. The space was adorned with additional floral runners and soft ambient lighting, creating a semi fine-dining experience the couple had thoughtfully curated for their guests. As evening transitioned to night, the bride made a stylish outfit change into a playful yet glamorous strapless mini dress with textured floral appliqués along the hem. The groom matched the tone with a soft beige three-piece suit — relaxed and refined, perfectly complementing the celebratory atmosphere of the evening reception.

The most memorable moment? The bride’s walk down the aisle beside her father and the shy, heartfelt vow exchange that followed. The evening ended with fireworks and an electrifying after-party. The couple recommend working with supportive vendors, singling out their videographer, Alfred, and the decorator for going the extra mile to ensure everything went perfectly for their clients.
