Fusing delicate peonies with elements of gold for their wedding, this couple went the DIY route – as much as they could. The groom, graphic designer and wedding photographer Andrew Yep, designed the invitations and stationery, and created direction boards using recycled wood and hand painted calligraphy. Meanwhile, the wedding favours were jars of locally produced strawberry jam. Thanks for these beautiful photos, Peter Herman Photography, and congratulations, Alice and Andrew! Our best wishes with you, and we’re so happy to see you both tie the knot.
Andrew: “I proposed while we were on holiday in Hokkaido, Japan. I popped the question on Mount Moiwa in Sapporo, and she said yes. It was snowing when I took the ring out from my pocket, and that really made the proposal a little more magical and special! We didn’t have anyone take photos of the proposal, as I wanted to do it privately; it’s ironic given that I am a wedding photographer myself. A selfie was enough to immortalise the moment.”
Alice: “It drizzled the day of our wedding. Thankfully for us, the rain stopped just at the right time for us to go ahead with our garden ceremony. And the rain resumed once the ceremony was over. We had the most perfect wedding with our family and close friends.”
Tips for brides-to-be: “Set the theme first. Colours are important, but don’t go overboard. Stick to a single theme, and that will really help to keep your choices focused. Get professionals –photographers, decorators, florist, etc. These people will help to bring out your best on your wedding day. As for décor, DIY is really fun and it saved us a lot of money!”
