High ceilings, whitewashed walls and glass-stained windows gave this wedding a simple yet magical backdrop. We loved how everything was kept minimal yet elegant and classy with small details that made the wedding very personal – such as the beautiful flower arch and draping vines up against the white interior of the church, as well as the gold accents on the beautiful chandeliers and gilded pillars at the reception. Many thanks to Bloc Memoire Photography for this stunning set of photos.

Magdalene: “Months before the wedding, people constantly reminded us to not get caught up in wedding prep and the hustle and bustle of the actual day, but to really treasure and enjoy those moments. I think we took this advice very seriously.

“So when I was walking down the aisle with my dad, I wanted to remember that moment forever and told myself that I would only focus on Johnny. But who would have known that my (usually serious) father would be chatting the whole time I was walking down the aisle and saying stuff like, ‘Smile’, ‘Say hello to Auntie X’, and ‘Hey isn’t that your boss’! And there I was, trying to savour that precious moment and focus on my husband-to-be. Johnny, on the other hand, got so overwhelmed with emotion when he saw me walking down the aisle that he had to look away to stop himself from crying.

“Our wedding dinner turned out exactly the way we wanted it to, and I’m not referring to the décor and food, but rather the atmosphere of the place. We knew we wanted an intimate dinner with our family and closest friends in a glamorous setting! We took pains to select every single song for the playlist, which we gave to our wedding band, but everyone was having so much fun that it got really noisy and we couldn’t really hear the band play.

“As we really loved this band so much and all the songs were so meaningful to us, we ended up standing by a random pillar by ourselves and swayed and sang to each other as the band played our favourite songs. At that moment, it truly felt like nothing else mattered in the world except for the both of us. It was just a wonderful moment that I will never forget.

“We wanted to keep things simple but elegant and classy. I loved the concept of draping vines, so we added them to the stage décor and flower stands in Chijmes. I personally like gold, which was the colour of my bridesmaids’ dresses. The groom and groomsmen were in a tuxedo and suits respectively, as I think men look best in classic black and white. For Forlino, we wanted it to be romantic and glamorous so we decorated it with candles, flowers and fairy lights – nothing fancy.”

Tips from the bride: “Be extremely thorough when you sign up for bridal packages, especially as there might be some ‘unclear’ terms that you end up paying for. Booking a nice hotel room for getting ready in the morning is also great for photos, and it’s a good way to keep everything in one place!”
