Looking through Aaron and Cayee’s wedding photo album reminds me of the famous 1990s Hong Kong comedy sitcom “My Fair Princess.” The couple chose to embrace the rich Chinese heritage on their wedding day, taking on the full, unabridged version of a gatecrashing and fetching the bride ceremony.

The wedding was an explosion of traditional Chinese elements. The color palette predominantly featured red, symbolizing luck and joy, interspersed with touches of gold for opulence. The decorations included a replica of an ancient Chinese bridal carriage, detailed with tassels and intricate patterns and a Chinese garden pavilion at the entrance of the bride’s home.

Aaron and Cayee leaned fully into the display of cultural richness and personality, highlighted by their choice to don full traditional Hanfu (漢服) attire. Cayee’s wedding attire was a visual feast, featuring intricate embroidery and a luxurious blend of red and gold threads. Her headdress and accessories mirrored the elegance of her outfit. Aaron, equally majestic, arrived at Cayee’s house on horseback complete with entourage that matches the ancient affluent Chinese families of old.

Perhaps the most memorable aspects of the day was the lively participation of the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Numbering a total of 30, dressed in coordinated outfits mimicking various Nucai (奴才) such as ladies’maids and male servants. Their comical enthusiasm added a dynamic energy to the gatecrashing games, ensuring Aaron faced worthy challenges before he could reach his bride. The spirited activities, full of laughter and camaraderie, were a testament to the strong bonds between the couple and their friends.

Aaron and Cayee’s wedding was a vivid tapestry of love, tradition, and cultural pride, creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. Their commitment to honouring their heritage while celebrating their personality made for a truly remarkable and joyful wedding day.
