We are so in love with the charming location, the wedding embellishments and the fantastic memories captured in this album. Complementing the rustic garden theme was a classy and youthful palette of mint and blush, enhanced by personal touches in the form of DIY wedding décor. Thanks to Peter Herman Photography for sending us this set, and wedding planners Prep for ensuring this bride had a stress free wedding! In a way, the cool climate of the highlands was a nod to the couple’s younger days when they were both students in Russia, but more importantly, the location was also like a second home to the bride and her family. “Ever since I was five, my family has spent all our school holidays at Cameron Highlands; the local farmers are almost like our extended family,” said Pik Yuet. “When Joe suggested that we have our wedding there, it was perfect! Cameron Highlands was a significant part of my childhood, and the cool weather also let us relive our memories of Russia, where we met.”
The couple even went to the trouble of gathering and drying wood in the months leading up to their big day so they could use them. Their wedding signage, calligraphy cards, cake topper, table names and welcome guest bags were all personally crafted and sourced by the couple and their loved ones. Being medical professionals, they supported a charity in the healthcare system (and the bride’s aunt) with ‘Forget Me Not’ pin badges from the Alzheimer’s Society, and also provided guests with blankets to keep them cosy.
“The weather was the one thing that was out of our control,” revealed the bride. “It started to drizzle a little while the bridal party was getting their makeup and hair done. Their positivity kept me going, and thankfully, the rain soon subsided. I was able to walk down the aisle with my father while Joe played the guitar and sang my favourite song, ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’. It was the perfect surprise.”
Tips from the bride: “It was important for us to start planning early, as we work long hours in the hospital. Initially we thought we could do everything on our own, but we eventually decided to hire a wedding planner. It was the best investment we made. Their experience truly took the weight off our shoulders and we could rest assured that a professional team was managing every single detail for us. As the saying goes, a stress free bride is a happy bride! As for those planning an outdoor wedding, the weather really is out of your control. Always have a Plan B and pray for the best!”
