Lavina and Jeffrey’s journey began with a comical twist of fate—meeting on a booze cruise due to mistaken identity. That lighthearted start set the tone for a celebration that was anything but ordinary.
The couple’s celebration began with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and culminating in a visually stunning Western ceremony framed by New Zealand’s breathtaking alpine landscape, where Lavina wore a fitted lace gown with floral appliqué and illusion detailing. The gown featured a plunging neckline, a sweeping train, and sheer shoulder accents that flowed like gossamer in the mountain breeze—subtle yet dramatic. She carried a cascading bouquet of peonies, hydrangeas, and orchids in soft shades of pink, lavender, and peach, echoing the day’s colour palette.
Set against the cinematic backdrop of Rippon Hall, the ceremony arch was lavishly adorned with roses, ranunculus, hydrangeas, and delphiniums in a riot of color. The ceremony started off with a mix of surprises: a family member dressed as a banana playfully handing out bananas, a bouncy castle and bubble guns for the kids, and an atmosphere that never took itself too seriously, despite the grandeur of the setting.
Perhaps the most jaw-dropping moment of the day came courtesy of Jeffrey, who secretly trained for four months to perform a Lyra (aerial hoop) routine. The couple then performed a dual Lyra act, a rare and theatrical moment that left guests in awe. The day continued with a flash mob, a live rock band, and a DJ set that kept the dance floor alive deep into the night. A live artist captured the couple in an intimate embrace on canvas during the reception—a poetic nod to their story being immortalised.
And if that wasn’t enough, Lavina and Jeffrey closed their portrait session with a private helicopter ride to Roys Peak, standing together at the summit with all of Lake Wanaka below them.
