Tying the knot in their church gave these newlyweds more than just sentimental value; it was also the perfect venue for their minimalist DIY wedding. The exposed brick wall was the perfect backdrop, and all they needed to add were flowers and plenty of joy and love. The bride even opted to make all that greenery the main element of the décor. We love how everything looked so effortlessly pulled together. Many thanks to Jessielyee. Photography for this beautiful set of photos!

Samantha: “The most memorable moment from my wedding day was when my dad covered my face with the veil and walked me down the aisle. It meant so much to me, as it symbolised how he has always been there for me during my ups and downs in life, and my heart will always belong to him, my first love.

“The concept behind my wedding theme was rustic and minimalist. The colour theme was grey, which went well with my white dress. For the wedding favours, we chose handmade soaps in two flavours: coconut rose (coconut is my favourite flavour), and coffee mint (Ken Lee’s favourite flavour). I DIY-ed a number of things such as the wedding invites, menus, table numbers, soap packaging design, welcome signage, and ceremony order signage. The wedding cake was designed by me and put together with the help of my maid of honour, who is the founder of Bunny Bake in Miri. The venue was the church that Ken Lee and I attend, and coincidentally, the brick wall went well with our theme.”

Tips from the bride: “Always plan at least a year ahead (if you tend to procrastinate like me), and if your wedding involves a lot of DIY work. Do any DIY as early as possible, but you must set your overall theme first before you can start a plan or do anything. If you are also DIY-ing your own invitations, remember to find your desired envelopes first before deciding on the card size and printing!”
