Ranging from baby blue to cobalt, the many shades of blue were the perfect colour palette for this intimate rustic themed wedding. Touches of blue were found in the bride’s bouquet and baby’s breath decorations, which complemented the wooden decorative elements such as tree trunk wood carvings, long wooden dining tables and twine.

The bride looked absolutely resplendent in her gown, flanked by her bridesmaids all in light blue (but each in a dress matching their own style), while the groom was handsome in his deep navy suit and surrounded by his groomsmen all in their own dapper attire. Many thanks to Louis Loo Photography for capturing this sweet set of photographs and Moon Loh of Kakias Wedding Decoration for such a great setup!

Mun Shing: “We saved our first kiss for our wedding day, so the moment our Pastor said, ‘You may kiss the bride,’ it was truly a special moment for us. I chose the song ‘I Just Want To Thank You God’, which was written by Daniel Robinson, for the bridal march. It was extra special that we got the incredibly talented Daniel C to perform the song for us. I first saw Daniel C perform at China House many years back and made a mental note to have him play at my wedding, but I subsequently lost his contact details. Thankfully, I managed to track him down via social media and was dumbfounded when he said he’d perform for free!

“We chose the Bible passage for our wedding Scripture Reading from 1 Corinthians 11:11-12. This was God’s confirmation verse for me that Jonathan is ‘the one’. The verse was especially meaningful, as the number 1111 has always meant a lot to me. When I was single, my prayer was always for God to lead me to someone whom, when we came together, the capacity for us to serve His Kingdom would be non-linear and exponential, such as 1+1=11.

“We wanted our wedding to be a low-key intimate gathering for friends and family instead of a glitzy gala in a hotel. We were in Penang having coffee one day at Awesome Canteen in Sekeping Victoria and fell in love with the place. The space felt raw and unassuming, just the way we liked it. As for our favours, we believe that relationships are a gift from God. We wanted our wedding favours to be symbolic of that and settled on the idea of a deck of inspirational quotes/icebreakers. We decided to design it ourselves. Jonathan carefully selected the quotes and verses while I custom designed every single one of the cards.”

Tips from the bride: “I was inspired by Kinfolk and Pinterest.”
