This wedding at Pokok KL is the celebration of the love between Clare, a drama teacher and Prabin, a mountain guide from Nepal. When Clare ventured to the Everest base camp 4 years ago to embark on a hike of a lifetime, she could hardly imagine that it would have such a major impact on her life. 4 years later, they made sacred promises to each other surrounded by close family and friends in Kuala Lumpur.

Though the views at Pokok KL pales in comparison to the snow capped glaciated peaks of the Himalayas, here; the focal point is the blending of two special individuals. Clare and Prabin wanted to include customs from their backgrounds into this special day. “Yellow is my favourite colour and Prabin’s is green. Our guests had colourful Tibetan scarves placed around their necks as they arrived. This is a customary greeting in Nepal to wish one’s guests good luck in their coming and going. The place was also decorated with prayer flags which are synonymous to Nepal.” “Our wedding planners had suggested that guests could write their well-wishes on them, which we thought were brilliant!” said Clare.

A celebrant told their love story and thereafter Clare and Prabin exchanged their vows in a cosy nook adjacent to the glasshouse surrounded by yellow and green floral arrangements. The reception was held in the glasshouse where the setting was organic. Herbs pots served as centrepieces that also doubled up as favours for their guests. After dinner, guests were treated to the games from their childhood and the night ended with guests dancing to a two person live band.

“We did what the both of us wanted without any external pressure and that made the whole planning process so enjoyable for us.” added Clare when asked what advice she would give other brides planning their wedding.

“It was an honour to be entrusted to plan the wedding of the new Lama family and to be able to witness the most sentimental love story. Besides, the uniqueness of the union between two cultures, it was their selfless love for each other that really touched us and their sincere desire to make each other happy irregardless of time and distance. We would love to thank the amazing team behind its success; the venue, photographer, stylist and band.” – Midsummers Events.
