When you have a deep theme colour like burgundy, it’s important that everything else pops. These newlyweds opted for various textures in white, including ropes, fabric and floral details. The results were chic yet glamorous, and the wooden accents of the venue, together with all the other decorative elements such as the signboards, really added to the warmth of the occasion. What a beautifully intimate affair, where the focus was solely on the union of the newlyweds. MunKeat Photography captured the essence of the day perfectly.

Christine: “Walking down the aisle on my father’s arm has to be the most significant moment from my big day. My groom teared towards the end of my walk and I was awash with emotions as my father gave me away. Of all the walks my father and I have taken together in life, the one we took down the aisle has to be my favourite. We kept the solemnisation ceremony for only family, close relatives and best friends. It was a small but very intimate wedding, and we were showered with love and blessings by the people who truly care and matter to us. We could not imagine a better way to celebrate this important chapter of our lives.

“Neo Tamarind is one of our favourite restaurants in the city. The greenery surrounding the place and the contemporary interior with its hint of rustic charm made it the perfect location to host our solemnisation ceremony. As much as I adore a white wedding, burgundy is my favourite colour and as such, I wanted to incorporate hints of burgundy into our wedding. Aside from my bridal bouquet and corsages, my wedding stationery, including our invitation cards, program fans and flower cones, were splashed with this colour. I also love art and craft hence there was plenty of DIY. We sought a freelance designer to hear our ideas and customise the layout of our wedding stationery before we sent them for printing at a local printing shop near The One Academy. Since the shop mainly caters to art and design students, we had good quality printed materials at lower prices (major tip for brides-to-be).”

Tips from the bride: “Without a doubt, plan in advance! We had exactly one year to plan before the big day and we did not waste any time booking our venue, photographer, videographer and makeup artist, who are all sought after. As for ideas, Pinterest is a treasure trove of wedding ideas and inspiration, but all brides-to-be should take just enough ideas and not get too caught up in the endless possibilities. It also helped me tremendously to have a wedding checklist to ensure that everything was in order and as planned. Finally, if you do not wish to trouble or burden your family members and friends with wedding coordination, I would highly recommend hiring a wedding planner to help with the actual day.”
