A white rose is the perfect symbol of marriage and new beginnings. This wedding was a refreshing mix of old and new, with traditional elements like an all-white colour palette, but also resplendent extravagance in the form of chandeliers and clear crystal glasses.

What really stole the show though was the abundance of white roses that adorned every single part of the wedding décor, and how this couple infused their story so completely into their wedding. Thanks to Munkeat Photography for capturing this stunning set of photos!

Kim: “The most memorable moment was seeing each other for the first time at the altar, and having my husband’s two brothers as his groomsmen and my two sisters as my bridesmaids by our sides. Another moment was when my husband sang John Legend’s ‘All of Me’ while playing the piano.

“Our theme was classic elegance as we’re both quite traditional. We chose white, gold and touches of black, as they’re our favourite colours. We only had white roses – we had over 10,000 fresh white roses flown in, and a rose flower wall with 6,000 silk flowers. I’ve dreamt of getting married at St. Mary’s Cathedral ever since I was a little girl, and the cathedral is a mix of old and new with glass panels letting in all the beautiful natural light.

“As for our reception, we have sweet memories of our chosen venue, the Crown ballroom. It was on the dance floor in this exact ballroom that my husband asked me to be his girlfriend five years earlier.

“We had KoKo Black chocolates as our favours – we both love chocolates and the boxes matched our theme perfectly. Our biggest and only DIY project was our flower wall covered in roses that was our backdrop behind the bridal table.

“Our reception was a dream come true – it was everything we wanted and more. Our ballroom was covered in white roses, gold, clear glass and chandeliers. We had a mixture of round and rectangular tables that were lined along our long runway dance floor.

“On the round tables there were 1.2m high gold vases with rose details and filled at the top with a large arrangement of 300 roses each. These were surrounded by smaller vases with bouquets of white roses. The rectangular tables had different types of clear and gold vases filled with roses at different heights, and a total of 500 candles lit up all the tables. We had the chandeliers brought in and hung around the bridal table and all the way down the dance floor.

“Our cake was a 5-tier red velvet cake with hand-made sugar roses covering the top and spilling down the side. It sat on a custom-made clear cake table filled with white roses. At the end of the ballroom, we set up a lounge area with custom cushions so that guests could mingle.”

Tips from the bride: “Collect as many pictures and magazines as you can, then cut, copy and paste to create a vision board for everything from dresses, hair, makeup, reception, etc. So when you talk to a vendor, they can see your style and what you like. Have a wedding planner and assistant on the day so they’ll take care of everything. My nephew poured a drink on my speech and my wedding assistant had a new one printed and on my table in 5 minutes! Instagram was my biggest inspiration when it came to looking for vendors – I found heaps through hashtag searches. Stick to vendors you love and have a great relationship with; we were so blessed to become friends with all our vendors through the planning process that when it was the wedding day, it was just magical and fun as we were all friends. I also followed many wedding blogs and Facebook pages.”
