‘I’ve always wanted a small intimate wedding. I’m glad both our families were really open about going with whatever we wanted.’ says Amanda. ‘I initially considered a location like Jandabaik but both of us are very busy with work and we didn’t want to deal with the logistics that came with that option. Since Hin is from Ipoh, we had the idea to celebrate there. The moment I stepped into The Banjaran for a recce I knew this was the perfect location for us.’ The venue allowed Amanda and Hin to have an intimate wedding luncheon in a unique setting without having to forgo comfort or a 5-star meal.

To kick off their wedding weekend, close family and friends made their way to Ipoh and spent the night in an AirBnb nearby. After dinner, Amanda’s brother, a musician, played on the grand piano whilst everyone mingled and caught up with each other. The next day, all was calm as Amanda and Hin got ready for their wedding luncheon. ‘My vision was to have a timeless look, to keep things simple and to incorporate orchids because I love them.’ the bride explained.

As guests arrived at Jeff’s Cellar via buggy car they were greeted by a classic black photo backdrop with orchids adorning either side, stunning against the textured limestone bedrock. The couple opted for a buffet lunch to keep with the laid-back atmosphere they were trying to achieve. Guests enjoyed live music while they ate. During the luncheon, Amanda’s brother played and sung a song on behalf of the groom’s mother. ‘My mother-in-law altered the lyrics of her favourite song to what she felt was a message her late husband would have wanted to share with the us on our special day. It was really special, we felt he was with us that day.’ added the bride.

When asked about planning a wedding in 3 short months, the bride shared that she felt no pressure to get everything absolutely right because the guests were close family and friends. ‘I really enjoyed being able to catch up with everyone after such a long time, being able to soak in every moment and also enjoy the food which was so good. Kudos also to the team at The Banjaran who made everything so seamless.’ says Amanda. ‘We were also touched that all our guests made the trip from KL with no qualms at all.’
