We love the way this couple played up the invigorating tropical environment at Gita Bayu with modern touches. Aiming for an organic and effortless feel, they chose a rustic colour palette of iced coffee, orange, green and white for a modern inspired theme fused with calming tropical elements. Thanks, MunKeat Photography, for capturing this.

Jeanne: “Sam and I had always dreamt of an outdoor garden wedding. Both of us wanted a more casual setting for the ceremony so we could keep it relaxed and enjoyable for our guests and us. Gita Bayu provided us just that! The combination of a Balinese garden and a lake infused a touch of intimacy and warmth to the celebration.”

Surprisingly, one of the most memorable highlights for the couple was the rain, which fell an hour before the ceremony and left the temperature perfectly cool. There was even a rainbow! When it started to drizzle again during and throughout the ceremony, the newlyweds rolled out Plan B – transparent umbrellas! “Guests said they had a grand time and that the rain made it even more magical,” said Jeanne.

“As long as you have a venue that can comfortably accommodate your guests, food and beverage, and your favourite music playlist, then you’ve taken care of the big items. Everything else really are just details that most people will tend to forget, so don’t get so absorbed in matters of lower priority. Embrace and savour every moment of this once-in-a-lifetime celebration with your loved ones.

“I might add to not rush back onto the aisle after you exchange vows. Take a second to take in the emotions and excitement of the day, as you stand before your guests as husband and wife. This is the moment where all your time, money and energy spent planning is made worthwhile. This is the moment for which your guests have travelled far and wide to share.”

Tips from the bride: “Keep things in perspective and accept that things will go wrong on the day. There is nothing wrong with doing a wedding that’s different from the norm.”
