Ke Er and Hugo’s journey is one of near misses turned destiny. Despite growing up in the same neighbourhood, attending the same schools, and even joining the same overseas trips, their paths never truly crossed—until they were introduced by their sisters, who happened to be close friends. What began as a quiet connection between two introverts naturally evolved into something lasting and deeply grounded.

Following an intimate wedding at Aman Venice, the couple envisioned a striking contrast for their Kuala Lumpur reception. At The St. Regis, they embraced a bold red palette—layering deep crimson florals, dramatic lighting, and sculptural installations to create an immersive, high-impact atmosphere.

Guests were first welcomed through a thoughtfully designed pre-function space, featuring a floral ceiling paired with mirrored elements, setting the tone before entering the main ballroom. Inside, cascading roses, grand stage structures, and dynamic lighting transformed the venue into a theatrical, almost cinematic experience.

The design was especially personal, led by the bride’s father and sister, both from the interior design field. Choosing to execute the concept themselves, they created a celebration that felt both visually compelling and deeply meaningful.

Beyond the grandeur, the wedding was defined by its strong sense of family. At three months pregnant, Ke Er relied on her loved ones more than ever—and they showed up in the most heartfelt ways. On top of DIY-ing the decorations, her brother serenaded her walk-in, her mother performed a song, and her father delivered a speech complete with a presentation.

Their first dance, something they had worked tirelessly on, became an unexpectedly joyful moment—made even more special by the cheers and energy from their guests.

Without a fixed vision of her “dream wedding,” Ke Er approached the day with openness. In hindsight, that allowed something more meaningful to unfold. What they created wasn’t just visually memorable—it was personal, emotional, and entirely their own.
