Erissya and Imran’s story feels serendipitous in the most unexpected way. Though they grew up just minutes apart—close enough for a five-minute walk—their paths never truly crossed until years later. From attending the same high school in different sessions to briefly being in the same space at a mutual friend’s open house without noticing each other, their journey reflects a quiet inevitability.

It wasn’t until Bumble brought them together that everything aligned. What began as a modern introduction quickly unfolded into something deeply meaningful. As Erissya shares, their relationship feels intertwined with the idea of the “red string theory”—that despite near encounters throughout their lives, they were destined to meet only when the timing was right.

To achieve a sophisticated garden party setting, a rich palette of deep greens, soft whites, and muted earthy tones was utilised to create a layered, immersive environment. The stage design stood out with cascading soft mint drapes that added movement and softness, paired with just enough floral installations. Arrangements featured hydrangeas, calla lilies, and textured foliage, accented with hints of rust and blush. Clear acrylic seating on the stage added a modern touch, allowing the lush greenery to remain the focal point.

From the moment the bride walked down the aisle, emotions ran high. Both bride and groom found themselves tearing up at multiple points throughout the day, particularly during the solemnisation and the salam restu—a heartfelt Malay tradition that stood out as one of the most meaningful parts of the celebration.

After which, the couple held a photoshoot at Tres Hotel before returning for their reception—making full use of its character-filled interiors. Retro-inspired rooms, patterned walls, and curated spaces added a playful contrast to the elegance of the ceremony, resulting in photos that felt both stylish and personal.

The reception itself took on a lively, interactive tone. Reflecting their shared love for games, the couple incorporated Kahoot and even a treasure hunt into the program. The result was a celebration that felt refreshingly personal—guests weren’t just attendees but active participants. One of the most telling moments? Even the aunties stayed longer than expected, fully immersed in the fun.

Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of Erissya and Imran’s wedding was how deeply personal it was. Erissya took on the ambitious task of planning the entire wedding herself, designing everything from the wedding website to the table stationery. Their families also played an integral role—contributing everything from hand-arranged bouquets to styling the dulang hantaran. These collaborative efforts gave the celebration a sense of warmth and authenticity that cannot be replicated. As Erissya puts it, the wedding may not have been entirely traditional, but it was unmistakably theirs.
