Held in JW Marriott KL’s grand ballroom, Zoey and Chein Wee’s wedding was a spectacular showcase of thoughtful design, personal flair, and deep cultural respect. Designed around their shared love for crystals and grandeur, the celebration was anything but conventional.

Departing from tradition, the couple forwent the typical front-stage arrangement and instead commissioned a custom-built circular stage at the opposite end of the ballroom. This bold repositioning not only created a new flow and rhythm for the evening but also heightened the element of surprise for arriving guests. Suspended above the round stage was a striking 300kg hanging crystal installation—the crown jewel of the space. Swathed in ivory drapery and framed by ambient spotlighting, the centerpiece reflected the couple’s desire for opulence and individuality. Pulling off this level of production required expert coordination. A 75-foot-long, 12-foot-high truss supported the rigging for the custom installation, with the entire venue transformed in just nine hours. A refined palette of white, green, and blush pink carried throughout the room, creating a soft yet regal ambiance.
Zoey elegantly carried three distinct bridal looks. Their morning gate-crashing and traditional tea ceremony honoured Chinese heritage with matching red ensembles embroidered in gold thread. Zoey’s Sanjit-style dress featured intricate phoenix and dragon motifs and an open back design that blended sensuality with symbolism.

For the Western ceremony, she debut in an off-shoulder lace ball gown with a structured bodice, long sleeves, and a sweeping veil—sophisticated and timeless. Later, she changed into a glamorous beaded gown with silver embroidery and illusion detailing, adding a touch of modern sparkle. Chein Wee looked sharp in a classic black tuxedo with a shawl lapel and bowtie, a perfect complement to the couple’s refined style. Their five-tier wedding cake was an artwork in itself. Decorated with delicate pearls, fondant rosettes, and ruffled detailing, it was the perfect reflection of the wedding’s soft luxury theme.
