Irynna and Duncan chose Sentosa Janda Baik as their wedding venue, a location that beautifully combined the laid-back, outdoor atmosphere the bride had always envisioned with traditional elements that were important to them. Their decision was solidified after a casual lunch at the venue, where they were struck by the serene environment and, importantly, the wheelchair accessibility that ensured all their loved ones could join in the celebration.

This wedding ceremony was a vibrant affair, with guests arriving in their best traditional outfits, adding a kaleidoscope of colours to the event. The lush surroundings of Sentosa Janda Baik were accentuated with a rich tropical theme. The abundance in greenery was punctuated by vivid pops of red and pink from tropical flowers like anthuriums and heliconias, creating a natural yet luxurious backdrop. The couple’s outfits were perfectly tailored to the overall theme, complete with matching ‘songket’ fabric, exuding an air of tradition blended with personal style.

The day was filled with memorable performances by their friends, including a serenade of “Getaran Jiwa” as the couple made their entrance and a traditional dance that brought a lively energy to the celebration. A standout moment however has got to be the ‘joget lambak’session, where the couple and their guests danced together, embodying the communal spirit that defined the wedding.

No detail was too small that need not attention. Irynna and Duncan’s special day was imbued with personal touches, from handcrafted tambok baskets as wedding favours to honoured the bride’s late uncle (who was of Bidayuh descent), to the carefully curated playlist. Even their small guest list of 150 was the result of thoughtful consideration to create a meaningful event true to themselves. It came as no surprise to us when Irynna’s best advice for other couples planning their wedding day, is to plan a wedding that is a true reflection of who you are as a couple. The couple also recommend embracing an intimate celebration, which would enable meaningful interactions with all attendees, ensuring that every moment is cherished.
