Here at The Wedding Notebook, we have always marvelled at brides who manage their own weddings, especially when there are multiple events for different groups of family and friends, both locally and overseas. Like many couples with several wedding reception obligations to fulfill, Bronwyn and Jason had three celebrations, all of which were efficiently organised and executed in line with their priorities.

For their third and final reception, the couple’s vision was to have an intimate and relaxing evening with family and friends at Sergeant Mess Sydney, a splendid function venue with terrific views of the ocean. The bride got on to Instagram and pored over various DIY projects for inspiration. She soon found a fantastic florist who was able to bring her ideas to life with floral elements that were minimalist and classic. To complement the bridesmaids’ ethereal blush gowns, each wore ivory and blush hued corsages. Taller bouquets of ivory and lavender stood in white porcelain jars, all of which made for beautiful photos without adding too much to the venue. The bride recalled, “I didn’t need very many decorations, as the venue itself was amazing.” Thanks, Daren Chong Photography, for sharing with us this beautiful set.

It is worth noting the extraordinary (and worthwhile) effort that goes into doing something special for your wedding party, as these are the loved ones who have stood by you in your journey towards marriage, not to mention your wedding planning. For a delightful day with their wedding party, the couple booked an ocean-facing, three-bedroom penthouse in Potts Point, in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. “It had some of the most amazing views and there was food for everyone,” shared the bride. “It was such a relaxing experience before our photo-taking and the celebrations.”

Tips from the bride: “Don’t be afraid to ask for help, especially from friends who have undergone this process. One of my favourite websites was Etsy. I found many things on it for a bargain.”
