File this one under wedding inspirations! Who knew an art gallery would be so perfect for a wedding, but of course – the perfect lighting, white walls, beautiful pieces of art as the backdrop and an intimate setting… what more could you ask for? We also love how the bride and groom were styled to complement the decorative elements in this space. Many thanks to The Wildest Dreams, 8dec and This Humid House for this gorgeously styled shoot, and to Maritha Mae for capturing these beautiful photos.

Pei Li of 8dec: “For this modern art-inspired wedding editorial, our team searched high and low to find the perfect light-filled, minimalist art gallery in order to achieve the modern, minimal aesthetic we envisioned. In this warehouse building just beyond Robertson Quay, we combined sleek minimalist gowns on the bride with a classic black suit on the groom, and accented the look with delightful pops throughout the details. Abstract artwork and sculptural floral elements with tropical Southeast Asian undertones merged to provide a dreamy backdrop.

“For the solemnisation part of the shoot, The Humid House masterfully created a wall-mounted installation that carried the weightiness of a Robert Morris felt sculpture, using foraged seaweed and the most delicate wisteria-like petrea volubilis. Inside a private room, an enchanting dinner experience inspired by a Julie Mehretu painting unfolded. A sense of lightness and joy was conveyed by the suspension of clouds and bougainvillea, punctuated by pops of colour and unexpected ingredients including beans, rocks and gourds. Upon the table lay simple floral arrangements against chunks of clay and rich piles of turmeric, influenced by the work of Anish Kapoor. The modern art gallery look was finished off with carefully curated ceramic plates, black candlesticks, and a sculptural wedding cake with edible lunarias.”
