This contemporary young couple in Shenzhen were determined to go against conventional wedding trends. For the gatecrashing ceremony, the bride wore a short, retro dress and a birdcage veil. She kept the guest list relatively small, turning the rooftop of The Langham Hotel into a romantic garden for their wedding, which was followed by an after party. From these photos that were beautifully captured by Chris Spira, one thing’s for sure: Vien and Michael look like they thoroughly enjoyed their big day. Weddings like this one are what we hope to see more.
Tips from the bride: “I think especially for brides in China nowadays, the biggest piece of advice I would give is to not be afraid of breaking the rules. Do it your own way; you will have no regrets.”
