Jerry and Cheri met 2017 and planned a destination wedding with a cliffside ceremony in 2020. ” I’m not particularly fond of beaches or the forests but my dream is to have a cliffside wedding. I scouted high and low for such a location in Malaysia but could not find one. In the end, wedding plans fizzled and at one point Jerry and I agreed to cancel our wedding and funnel all our resources to an epic honeymoon instead.” tells Cheri.

However, when a window of opportunity arose and inter-state travel was allowed again. They made they way from their home in Kuala Lumpur to Angsana Teluk Bahang, Penang for a recce trip. When Cheri first saw the poolside deck on the property, she instantaneously made a decision to book the venue for a wedding in 3 weeks.

The bride wore a classic A line gown with lace bodice for the evening ceremony. A circular arch was set up at the alter which supported the crescent-shaped floral arrangement of roses and pampas grass. Similar flowers in gold vintage vases lined both sides of the aisle as Cheri walked down the aisle with her father by her side. 65 guests were in attendance and all made the trip to Penang from KL at short notice to support the newlyweds.

“You probably can’t tell from the photos but the sky was really gloomy that day. we took a chance and went ahead with plan A, which is to have our reception on the deck. Although the area was covered, it would still have left our guest expose to some rain as it was a very windy location.” recalled Cheri. Such are the challenges of throwing a party outdoors in Malaysia. Thankfully it did not rain and as the sun set on the horizon, the deck lit up gloriously, doubling up as reception area. Cheri’s second look was a stand-out structural sleeveless satin mermaid gown with modern silhouette. She ended the night in a stunning full length dark sequinned gown with a high slit and matching stilettos. The couple were extremely pleased with the professionalism and hospitality of the staff at Angsana Teluk Bahang and had only high praises for the entire crew. Especially mentioned was the couple’s on-site wedding co-ordinator -Eva, who helped pulled off this event within 3 weeks.
