While there is a certain assurance in using a photographer who has shot in your wedding venue before, there’s also unexpected beauty to be found when you hire someone who hasn’t. A new perspective is often surprising and refreshing to see. Harvard Wang is a photographer based in Melbourne. Even though he’s Malaysian, this is his first wedding shoot in the country.
Harvard: “Veronica is Malaysian while David is American. They met in Egypt, and have since been living in Africa. Their story is nothing short of captivating. Their guests came from 11 countries. Veronica and David organised for all of them to stay in Enderong Resort. You can imagine the energy. It was almost as breathtaking as the surroundings of Janda Baik. I couldn’t believe I was in Malaysia.”
Veronica: “Some of the most memorable parts of the day were the tea ceremony, saying our vows and just the fact that our guests could stay at the venue, go barefoot throughout the wedding and hang out. Having our friends from different countries come together and get along really well was fantastic!
“Nature was definitely a key consideration for us. Since it was an East/West wedding, we wanted to have the best of both worlds. Being in Malaysia, we still envisioned a cosy and intimate wedding. Enderong was the ideal venue for us as it’s right in the forest, and the theme and colours just flowed naturally from there.”
Tips from the bride: “Etsy was great and we also sent out e-vites, which saved us a lot of hassle. Planning a wedding from abroad definitely wasn’t easy, so if you’re in my situation, rally your local troops to help out in different ways. That’s how I found Jen’s Underground Supper Club as my caterer, which was absolutely fantastic! And yes, definitely try to keep the groom engaged throughout the planning.”

Hi there, I'm planning to have my wedding reception in Enderong house as well. Did you all have any issues wearing shoes in the hall? Apparently house rules say no shoes allowed. Somewhat strange.
