This couple is proof that tradition does not have to mean boring and old-fashioned at all. Done right, it can look vibrant and lively, and be a meaningful reminder of our roots and heritage. Li Jun and Erwin went all out, with the bride in full traditional bridal regalia: a resplendent “Qua”, the traditional Chinese wedding costume, complete with a gold headdress, lacy red veil and embroidered shoes. Her entourage of “Chi Mui” matched her in striking red cheongsams, while the groom himself showed up in a mandarin-collared suit.
The gate-crashing ceremony created a lively atmosphere of joy and laughter, and really set the tone for the tea ceremony that followed. To cap things off, the bridal portraits with the whole team, taken outdoors in the bright sunlight and among shady trees, really showcased the camaraderie and happiness of the occasion. Many thanks to WeFreeze Photography for capturing and sharing this joyous set of photos with us.
Li Jun: “The concept behind our wedding theme was to preserve our Chinese customs and tradition. Only during a wedding can we wear the “Qua” and Jet Li suit. The bridal games were fun and exciting! Our “Chi Mui” and “Heng Tai” went all out. The tea ceremony for the groom’s side took longer than expected but we had great fun and laughter. The look of joy and happiness on our family’s faces made it all so memorable.”
Tips for brides-to-be: “Plan early. Your wedding is an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime event to share with your loved ones. Go out of your comfort zone and be resourceful. We got stuff from China and the Philippines, and we were awed by their craftsmanship. There is no need for wedding packages when you are resourceful.”
