Is it any surprise that this couple’s socially responsible wedding was clever, fun and well received by family and friends? Ashley and Jarrod wanted a wedding that was socially conscious and that had a low environmental impact wherever possible. Instead of using fresh flowers, their florist came up with the brilliant idea of using dried flowers and opening up a herb bar where the flowers/herbs could be wrapped in a bouquet for guests to bring home as wedding favours.

With the help of Ashley’s father, they also created a backdrop of recycled wooden pallets that was used for both the ceremony and the lunch reception in the church. Everyone was on board with the eco-conscious theme, including the vendors like Covenant Jewellery and Bettr Barista, who do good work with underprivileged and marginalised communities. Kudos to Samuel Goh Photography for these fantastic captures!

Ashley: “There was nothing as momentous as saying our vows to each other. The gravity of the words and the commitment that we were making to ‘love and cherish ’til death do us part’ – no words could be more beautiful and powerful than the covenant of marriage spoken aloud.”

Tips from the bride: “Prioritise! It was helpful for us to align our expectations and priorities for our wedding. That in turn guided us in our decision-making and the allocation of our budget.”
