Excellent décor and seamless organisation all helped to transform the bare Straits Quay Convention Centre in Penang into this marvelous wedding venue. Once again, Tie The Knot has shown us their magic touch. Thanks for this amazing album, Louis Loo Photography!
When the vendors first met the bridal couple nearly a year ago, the bride already knew she wanted to have Old Shanghai as their theme. “The proposed venue, being a convention centre, was a logistically challenging concept, given the bare and spartan feel of the space,” they admitted.
The couple’s openness made them a joy to work with. Drapes in deep shades of burgundy were complemented by wooden birdcages for a dramatic touch. The result was impactful but not cluttered or over the top. “Our first moment of stepping into the banquet hall and onto the red carpet was the best moment ever. We were so anxious but we just rocked it and strutted in like Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake,” said Claudia and Marvin.
Tips from the bride: “The natural instinct of many brides is to have everything on their Pinterest board recreated for their wedding. Sometimes it’s possible if the budget permits, otherwise you just have to be realistic about what would work in your venue. If your budget is limited, concentrate on the things that will make the most impact so you are not spreading your resources too thin.”
