Jillian and Kendrick first met in early February 2020 while attending a mutual friends’ wedding at Grand Hyatt hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Despite having graduated from the same high school, they have never met prior to that. Jillian, co-founder of KAMI weddings and Kendrick an entrepreneur, met to discuss challenges they faced as young business owners, and a relationship blossomed quickly. When it came time to pick a venue, inviting their 430 guests to join them where they first met was a no brainer.

No detail left unturned, working with designer Danieleslie, she ended up with a white organza structured gown with red and blue detailed embroidery featuring pairs of phoenixes that fitted at the waist. A flattering silhouette with plenty of Indochina influences for the tea ceremony. The groom looked equally suave in a red traditional menswear featuring a single dragon and heavy brocade. The entire bridal party were dressed in neutrals and exuded simple elegance.

In the evening, the bride started the night with an elegant custom Brian Khoo gown spotting square neckline, an A-line full skirt complete with hand-stitched crystal embellishments. She kept her hair simple with natural waves to lean into a more low-key look. The couple chose a garden themed wedding to represent metaphorically the home they wish to grow together. They filled the entire wedding day with personal touches, and incorporated the things they enjoy doing together such as gardening, cooking, and designing. To add a fun gesture, customised chocolates with kitkat wrapping were gifted as wedding favours to their guests.

“Start planning early and enjoy the process because organising an event as a couple though fun is often challenging. We had to learn how to communicate effectively, not just with each other but also with our family in terms of expectations and management. Last but not least, let go of things that are out of your control during the wedding day and enjoy it as best as you can.” shares Jillian. Lastly, the couple would love to credit all their amazing vendors who went above and beyond to ensure their special day went smoothly and without a hitch.
