The decorative details at this wedding were simply breathtaking, and we love the colour palette that surely added to its sophistication: white to symbolise faith, black to convey elegance, and grey as a compromise between the two.

The bride favoured a cosy garden wedding, and that was made possible with a leafy green wall and astro turf right on the 57th floor, with a view of the Petronas Twin Towers! After the bridal couple exchanged their vows, their reception was where the magic happened: from the white roses to the lavish gilded candleholders, from the black tablecloths to the sumptuous silver sequined cake.

The draped curtains added dramatic flair to the evening, and there were beautiful smiles and the sounds of laughter all round. Many thanks to The Peak Xperience and Wishing Tree for the beautiful setup, and Axioo for this incredibly stunning set of photographs!

Lavinne: “Soren and I met at a random event five years ago, and whenever we saw each other at events, we always had a good time talking and laughing about everything. We never thought we’d click so well despite our different cultural backgrounds, but we have a lot in common. Love gradually grew without us knowing whether it was more than friendship. The answer was clear once Soren had to move to Hong Kong for work.

“Soren’s a really sensitive and romantic man – he’s also a very good planner. He planned the proposal at the Maldives in February 2015, which I’d thought was just another vacation and romantic dinner on the beach. The Eiffel Tower in Paris was going to be his plan B. It took me by surprise because he’s actually not very good at keeping surprises from me. I said yes to the man I wanted to spend my life with when he got down on one knee, along with his very sentimental yet funny proposal speech (which he claimed to be his new rap – he loves to rap), and the perfect ring on a beautiful island.

“My dream wedding was a cosy garden wedding, but Soren’s suggestion inspired me to host our wedding at Marini’s on 57, overlooking the magnificent Kuala Lumpur skyline. In fact, we’re the first couple to have our wedding reception at Marini’s. I agreed to the gourmet fine dining, fantastic view and for the convenience of our guests, as most of them are based in Malaysia. Plus it was a good year-end holiday for our guests coming in from the West to escape the winter chill!

“Every moment of our wedding day was special to us, especially walking down the aisle and being surrounded by our friends and families celebrating our union. Adding to our sentimental moments was Adele’s ‘Make Me Feel Your Love’, performed live by a good friend, Dennis Lau, on his violin. It was an overwhelming moment that brought us to tears.

“I had a little surprise for Soren: as he loves rap and enjoys rapping occasionally, I rapped ‘Your Love’ by Nicki Minaj – it was my first rap and I practiced for months! I was a little nervous at first but my heart immediately warmed up when I saw the look on his face. It was priceless!”

Tips from the bride: “Honestly, planning an intimate wedding wasn’t as easy as I thought, hence a wedding planner is highly recommended. We had a few break-downs before our wedding as we tend to strike for perfection, but we stuck together and promised to take things lighter and laughed at things that didn’t go as planned. After all, it was not an event to impress anyone but it was about the love we shared and the vows we exchanged; beyond that, everything else was a bonus. With that belief, we made the most of it. Our wedding was one of the best days of our lives!”
