Amy: “That moment as I was walking down the aisle, holding my dad’s hand and seeing Chris and all the people we love, was really beautiful. Also, we agreed that saying goodbye to our guests and new Malaysian friends, Melanie and Lane, as we drove off together for the first time as husband and wife, was quite memorable too.
“We wanted whimsical, garden-like styling for the décor, while keeping with the ‘colonial’ style theme. The vintage car, scotch and cigar favours, Malaya coin cufflinks for groomsmen, historical George Town books, vintage world map, world globe, and cartel post box with hand painted George Town postcards from a local Penangite artist gave a colonial, romantic feel, while the heart garlands hanging from the big old tree, the huge amount of flowers, fairy lights, heart décor, fans and bridesmaid dresses gave that whimsical garden feel.
“We also wanted to make sure that our guests felt truly welcome and appreciated for travelling over for our wedding, so we tried to make the wedding very personalised, with little individual thank you notes to everyone, pictures of our dog, and lots of handmade stationery for invites, menus, RSVP cards, etc. that I did myself, under Amjenn Designs. The beautiful, intimate setting of Suffolk House just topped that off.”
