An intimate soiree filled with cocktails, summer breezes and partying late into the night are all reminiscent of a luxe Hamptons party in the summer. Aside from the all-white glamour of this wedding, we love the unexpected details that made it really stand out, from the bridal bouquet of cascading white orchids to the groom’s light linen suit and the mother of the bride’s sleek and gorgeous jumpsuit. The white floral décor added to the beauty of the day, starting with the breathtaking floral arch and continuing with the reception table centerpieces. Many thanks to Nigel Lim Photography for capturing these stunning shots.
Jacqueline: “Our best friend created a video for us which we played at our reception. It was a culmination of the past 12 years we’d been together, and the best times we’ve had with our friends who were with us in that room and who’d travelled from all corners of the world to celebrate our wedding. It really was such a special video, made even more special by us being with the people who were in it. By the end of the night, everybody was on the dance floor! For both myself and Sharif, it was a time to finally let loose and party with our friends and family, and celebrate the tears, stress and joy over the past months of planning our wedding, which ultimately led to the most incredible and beautiful day we’d both dreamed of!
“We both have a love for summer, cocktails and poolside soirées, so we loved the idea of having a ‘Hamptons’ style wedding theme. Everybody was dressed to the nines! We wanted a relaxed chic feeling for our wedding – men in shorts with different coloured linen jackets and ladies in bright summer dresses.
“For the reception, we wanted to bring our ‘Hamptons’ theme to life, so instead of table numbers, we had individual table names such as South Hampton, Montauk, Long Island, etc., which are different areas in the Hamptons. To act as place cards, we used navy and tan coloured luggage tags with each guest’s name, and that was also their wedding favour. To top it off, we had a signature ‘Hamptons’ cocktail which brought that summer feeling and was definitely a hit with our guests.”
Tips from the bride: “Think about the type of weather you’ll be getting married in. I knew it was going to be humid and extremely hot in Phuket so I searched for a light silk and backless wedding dress, which really helped me with the humidity on the day!
“Have your Maid of Honour carry a ‘survival kit’ during the ceremony and reception – it’s a lifesaver. Mine had everything from tissues, lip balm and lipstick to safety pins and band aids.
“Pictures, pictures, pictures! Print and save as many pictures as you can when it comes to the type of hair and makeup you’d like for your wedding. It’s always the best guide for your hair and makeup artist and you can play around with each style. Just remember that what you see in pictures doesn’t always work on your hair and face, so it’s always best to have a trial beforehand.”
