A Micro Wedding at Metal Bees Studios with Ombre Effects

Most weddings at the Metal Bees Studio are held in the brick room. Unbeknownst to many, there are 4 rooms to choose from and this bride picked the raw room, an all white room serving as a blank canvas to highlight her dream of a blue themed wedding. Event Diaries nailed the brief and the decor was a sight for sore eyes. Floral installations and backdrops with scattered colours of sage, blue and white gradually blending from one hue to the other soften the jarring all-white facade yet maintain its art deco effect.

Donovan and Xiang Qin first met at a wedding in early 2019. Before the year ended, Xiang Qin found herself moving to Singapore to start a new life with Donovan. “I realised I wanted her to be part of every moment of my life, our goals and dreams were aligned. She was the right person and it was the right time.” says Donovan.

“We started talking about registering for marriage early on in 2020. When he went down on one knee and proposed at the Helix Bridge in Singapore, I wasn’t very surprised as he was acting queer all day.” laughed Xiang Qin.

Despite having registered their marriage in 2020, it was not until January 2022 that they could finally celebrate their nuptials. However, due to travel restrictions, their guest list of 100 scaled down to 40, making this a micro wedding, a trend we predicted will be here to stay.

“I really did enjoy every moment of that day. The guests were mostly my family and friends and it was the first time I had seen them since the pandemic, so it was an especially intimate affair for me.” recalls Xiang Qin. “The most memorable part of the day for me was when we exchanged promises to each other. I recalled promising to feed her and provide a home for the family we wish to build together.” says Donovan.
