This couple wanted something intimate and warm instead of the regular banquet hall reception. The fresh lavender looked lovely in bundles, together with the rustic burlap table lining and Chiavari chairs with lavender cushions to match. Thanks, Smittenpixels Photography – the photos are lovely!
Linh: “We chose a very special day to tie the knot: 14/03/2015, which can be written as 3.1415 a.k.a. Pi Day. We had a military themed solemnisation ceremony with a military march in. It was pouring with rain throughout the afternoon and we thought we would have to postpone the ceremony as all the décor and chairs were drenched. But we proceeded with it in the end, and the rain somehow made things even cosier.
“We wanted a very intimate wedding where everyone could enjoy their food and company. As such, we decided to have it in a small French restaurant instead of a banquet hall. We had a rustic lavender theme because we both love lavender. I purchased 100 bouquets of lavender from Provence, and also ordered lavender sachets from South Africa as wedding favours. Merry Love Weddings did an amazing job transforming the restaurant into exactly what we wanted. With the help of our friends, we also did our own photo layouts and wedding stationery, as well as a hand-drawn fingerprint guest book.”
Tips from the bride: “Make checklists – it’s handy and helps ensure you don’t forget anything. Have a fixed budget with an allocated amount for each category, and stick to it. Be open with one another about the stress and problems that you are going through; open communication kept us sane and happy throughout the planning process.”
