The Pavilion Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
Located within the heart of the city lies The Pavilion Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. A stone’s throw from Pavilion Kuala Lumpur this is as convenient as a location can be. Lesser known is its centre court which is an outdoor courtyard flanked by a 90 feet cascading water feature. The cherry on top of this area is the skylight roof suspended from the 18th floor that would shield guests from both rain and heat. The centrecourt is minimally decorated, only 15 foot trees stand in rows on either side which makes this space less challenging for your decorator. Chairs and small tables will be provided but decorations, sound systems, projectors would have to be outsourced. The reception can be held in the contemporarily decorated Pavilion Ballroom that can accommodate 18 round tables. The ballroom is fitted with basic amenities and has a beautiful foyer for cocktails.

Jeff’s Cellar is an internationally recognised dining experience and having an intimate wedding means you won’t have to miss out on enjoying your meal. The Cellar can accommodate up to 70 guests and is divided into an upper and lower deck. Guests can navigate easily between tables to mingle and the feeling is intimate. Both buffet or individual set meals are available and a minimum spent is required to book out the restaurant. The cave is fitted with top of the line surround sound for background music. The Saujana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
When one thinks of garden weddings, The Saujana Hotel comes to mind. This venue has seen countless garden weddings thanks to its organically perfect garden where 2 large trees flank either side, providing much needed shade for the Malaysian weather with the lake view at the end, which makes for the ideal spot to land an archway for the exchanging of vows. To book the garden, a minimum of 80 guests are required, and the maximum capacity is at 150. An alternative function room will be prepared in the event of rain. Charges are applied per pax which includes canapes and refreshments. Following the ceremony, guests can take a leisurely stroll towards the ballroom for the reception. The Saujana Ballroom can accommodate up to 30 tables and includes a foyer where pre-dinner drinks can be served. A minimum booking for 200 persons is needed. Alternatively, the Zamrud room fits 180 guests seated in banquet style and a minimum of 120 guests is required to use this room.
EQ Kuala Lumpur
Nestled in the heart of the city of Kuala Lumpur lies EQ Hotel. There is a well manicured garden that can accommodate 60-70 pax for the ceremony. For usage of the garden, a fee of RM 10,000 is required to secure this coveted location and it includes banquet chairs and light refreshments (including EQ signature coolers).
Alternatively, one can have their ceremony held in the comfort of the indoors at The Conservatory. Despite being indoors, this location makes for good photos thanks to its floor-to-height windows that let the natural light in. Banquet chairs are available, whereas chiavari chairs as seen in the pictures above have to be sourced by the couple themselves. Dining can be held at the diamond ballroom and can be assessed with a minimum booking of 30 tables.
The Diamond ballroom’s main floor can fit 35 tables and the mezzanine floor 10 tables, making it a total of 45 tables. Impressive LED screen fills almost half the ballroom and a standard sound system is available. Sound systems for live bands have to be rented from a third party. You can also host your dinner at The Conservatory with a minimum booking of 10 tables. An added bonus would be that both these reception venues have straight aisles that wedding decorators prefer. EQ also offers packages for an after-party at Sky 51, a rooftop bar with the best views of the city.
The Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

The Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur needs no introduction. Favoured by couples due to its colonial facade and old-world charm, it is a well known popular wedding venue. Besides the orchid conservatory (which can only accommodate a maximum of 30 pax), the roof garden and lawn are other options for an outdoor ceremony. Both can entertain up to 100 guests. Because the majestic hotel faces east, an evening ceremony may be better suited for the lawn to avoid sweltering in the morning sun. Thereafter, guests can adjourn to dine either at the canopy (fits 15 tables comfortably), or the Majestic Ballroom which can accommodate up to 125 tables. There are also 13 other function rooms for events to suit almost every guest count. A rental fee is required for use of the orchid conservatory, lawn or the rooftop.
Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur
Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur does not have a garden, but they have the next best thing: a glasshouse that can seat up to 120 guests in theatre style. This space can be utilised for a ceremony, but it can also host an intimate reception. Located at the far end of the rooftop pool area and enclosed in a steel-glass structure, it offers privacy for you and your guests. Standard sound system is available for use but additional systems will need to be outsourced to accommodate a live band. The Poolside Bar & Grill glasshouse would be made available with booking of wedding packages for 80 guests minimum. The reception will be held at the Gallery, which is a close function room located on the same floor as the Poolbar & Grill that seats a total of 150 guests in round tables. Alternatively, the Clarke Ballroom can seat up to 300 guests in round tables and a minimum required booking of 20 tables is required to utilise the ballroom.

Just an hour drive from the city of Kuala Lumpur would transport you and your guests to the serene highlands of Bukit Tinggi. As you accent the mountain by car, you’ll be able to see The Chateau Spa & Wellness Resort towering above the surrounding lush tropical trees. Menus for canapes can be customised to your liking. The booking of the glasshouse includes the set up of a portable stage, LED screen and standard sound systems. You will have to bring in additional sound systems to support a live band or a DJ. This venue offers chiavari chairs for all your guests which means there will be one less vendor for you to mull over!
Eastern & Oriental Hotel, Penang
Penang has many heritage buildings but The Eastern & Oriental Hotel is an establishment in its own right. Characterised by moorish architecture and British influence, it makes for a gorgeous wedding location. Exchanging vows beneath the mighty shades of the 150 year old Java tree that stands in E&O Hotel’s seafront garden lawn with unobstructed views of the straits is a most coveted privilege. To secure this spot there is a rental fee that would include banquet chairs, floral decorations, the use of a PA system, refreshments, canapes, a 3 tier wedding cake and others. The Annexe Garden seats a total of 60 persons.
The hotel is separated into 2 wings, the original being the heritage wing where the Grand Ballroom is located. The ballroom houses up to 40 round tables. The gallery, much like a mezzanine floor, can accommodate another 20 tables in total. Unlike other hotels, the plastering, theatre style room and wooden flooring easily transports one back to the golden era. The other wing is named the Victory Annexe. The Macalister Ballroom is located here and caters up to 30 tables.
Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang

Shangri La Rasa Sayang is one of the best hotels along Batu Ferringhi beach. It is a gorgeous property with expansive grounds. The rental of outdoor space for a wedding ceremony at Shangri La’s Rasa Sayang Penang includes light refreshments for you and 100 of your guests, chiavari chairs, fresh flowers for decor, the use of portable PA system, use of microphone, champagne fountain, a mock cake and not to mention photos to die for. There are 2 outdoor options, the first is the rain tree garden which seats 100 guests and the latter is the Banyan garden which seats less than 50 guests. An additional booking of 10 Rasa Deluxe Suite is required to use the Banyan Garden as it is located in a more secluded part of the hotel grounds. The Rasa Sayang is a big hotel so it is expected that there will be other hotel guests wandering around whilst you have your ceremony. However, grounds at Rasa Sayang are massive and since both the rain tree and banyan garden are located away from the frenzy of activity that is the pool, it is highly likely that your ceremony would have some privacy. If you are planning to have a garden ceremony alone, do note that you will need to book a separate hotel room to get ready if one is needed. For the reception, the Pelangi Ballroom can cater up to 300 guests seated in round tables. Both lunch and dinner can be served in the form of buffet or banquet style.
